  • Day 1: Cells & Microscopy

Think you already know cells from GCSE? Think again! In this session, we’ll zoom in on the cell structures, organelles and functions that are new at A-Level β€” and the exciting microscopy methods used to study them.

  • Day 2: Biological Molecules

You’ll be familiar with DNA, carbohydrates, proteins and lipids but in this session, we’ll go deeper than GCSE β€” breaking down the structure, bonding, and function of the molecules that fuel life (and underpin the entire A-Level course!)

  • Day 3: Membranes & Transport

Membranes aren’t just the thin lines in diagrams β€” they’re where the real action happens in Biology!
In this session, we’ll break down the fluid mosaic model & upgrade your cell transport knowledge to an A-Level standard.

  • Day 4: Study Skills for Success

Still thinking β€œjust make notes” counts as revision? It’s time for a reset!
In this session, you’ll learn how top A-Level students actually study β€” using active recall, spaced repetition, and smart planning to save time and boost memory.

✺ Frequently asked questions ✺

  • Yes! The core concepts that underpin A-Level Biology are the same, regardless of exam board. The exam techniques and study skills we will cover are also universal.

  • No problem! Every session is recorded and you’ll receive the recording and annotated notes to review in your own time after the session. If you have any questions, you can then email Caroline for help.

  • No! I get that some students are uncomfortable doing this. You can interact with me however you feel comfortable - come off mute and chat or type a message to me on the chat - as long as you’re engaged and contributing, it’s all good!

  • Yes! I’ll email you the resources and session link before we begin so that you can print it or save to your device. But don’t worry - I’ll make plenty of notes for you as we go along.

  • Well, no! It’s a big A-Level course and you’ll need to keep up the great work for the next two years. But it does give you a confident start to help you hit the ground running.

  • Yes I do! I have a comprehensive wraparound support programme - The Biology Boost - for students studying OCR A-Level Biology. It includes weekly content clarity masterclasses, exam technique coaching and personalised feedback.

About your teacher:

Hi, I’m Caroline Shepherd β€˜aka Biosheps’ β€” award winning tutor, fully qualified teacher, former Head of Biology, and current A-Level Biology examiner.

But more importantly? I once sat exactly where you are now β€” excited (and slightly terrified) about starting A-Level Biology (and to be honest, wondering if I was really cut out for it.)

I absolutely loved Biology back then…and I still do! So now I help hard working students get the grades they deserve by teaching them to truly understand complex concepts, master their exam technique and develop study skills that actually work.

Having taught A-Level Biology for over a decade (and taught 100’s of students…am I that old now?!) I’ve really seen what works and what students need for top grades.

This isn’t about memorising mark schemes or rewatching YouTube videos on 2x speed. It’s about giving you the tools, mindset, and strategy to walk into Year 12 already feeling a step ahead.
